A pile-knotted tradition from the Zayan confederation of the western Middle Atlas. Bold geometric compositions in warm ochres and deep reds. The Zayan resisted French colonial control until 1921.

Technique. Pile-knotted; medium to high pile on wool foundation
Palette. Warm ochres, deep reds, dark brown-black, and ivory. A palette with more warmth than the cooler Middle Atlas traditions, reflecting the lower altitude and different dye sources of the western Atlas
Vacuum gently and without a beater bar. Rotate periodically for even wear. Blot spills immediately — never rub. Professional cleaning only; these are natural-dye wool pieces and should never be machine washed.
A natural wool rug ages into its character. Minor shedding in the first months is normal and settles with use.
