Her father guided caravans through the Atlas passes before the roads came. He knew every fold of the mountains, every spring that ran dry in August, every shelter where a man could wait out a storm. When he died, his daughter wove what he had taught her — not the routes themselves, but the feeling of knowing them. The diamond shapes are not decoration. They are landmarks. The colors shift where the valleys open to plains. Some who own rugs from this family say they dream of journeys they have never taken.
